Mrs. Sandra Jones has worked in public service for over three decades and, as such, has had the opportunity to work in several ministries/agencies in the public sector over the course of her career, serving in administrative and management capacities.
Her management experience in public service spans over 11 years. She served as Public Management Consultant for nine years attached to the Office of the Prime Minister and Ministry of Public Administration. Additionally, she served as a Director of Human Resources in the Ministry of Education for three years. Consequently, she has gained extensive experience in strategic management and management consultancy.
From a service delivery perspective, she has over 10 years’ experience, from 2005 to 2015, as a Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Gender, Youth and Child Development.
In 2015, Mrs. Jones was promoted to Permanent Secretary to the Prime Minister and Head of the Public Service. She retired from the public service in 2017.
She has served on several Cabinet Appointed Committees geared towards policy development and public sector reform. Moreover, during her tenure as Permanent Secretary, she represented the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago both regionally and internationally.
She is the recipient of a Public Service Award and a National Award, both in the field of public service.
Mrs. Jones has held the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors at TGU since July 2017.
